Principal Solutions Architect, Enterprise - Retail, CPG and Travel & Hospitality

AWS Canada drives adoption of the AWS cloud across Retail customers, enabling organizations to innovate and transform their business. We are seeking a Senior Solutions Architect to serve as a credible technical leader and strategic advisor, helping customers architect solutions to complex business and technology challenges.

In this role, you will partner with senior customer leaders, sales, and cross-functional AWS teams to influence long-term technology strategy and accelerate transformational cloud adoption. You will design end-to-end architectures, lead cross-team solution delivery, and create reusable assets that benefit customers across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect extensible, reusable, and operationally excellent cloud solutions to complex migration, modernization, and innovation challenges
• Build and own strategic relationships with senior customer leaders, understanding their industry context and business objectives to influence long-term technology strategy
• Provide technical leadership across internal and cross-functional teams to deliver solutions, building consensus on technical approaches and negotiating architectural trade-offs
• Develop and deliver technical content such as workshops, prototypes, and presentations and speak at events to help customers evaluate and adopt new technologies
• Advocate for customers by identifying product gaps and feature requests, and work with AWS service teams to help them understand customer needs
• Create reusable technical assets such as reference architectures, frameworks, and code samples
• Mentor teammates on solving challenging problems

Basic Requirements

• 10+ years of specific technology domain experience (software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics)
• Experience communicating across technical and non-technical audiences and at C-level, including training, workshops, and publications
• 5+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures
• Proven experience architecting and guiding implementation of complex, end-to-end solutions in distributed systems and cloud architectures
• Familiarity with modern architectural patterns such as microservices, serverless, and event-driven systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience architecting/operating solutions built on any cloud service provider like Azure, AWS, GCP, OCI
• Experience in the retail sector
• Experience writing high-quality technical content for technical audiences
• Proven track record of creating reusable technical assets
• Experience designing and implementing complex AI/ML solutions including generative AI, agentic applications, MLOps patterns, and RAG architectures
• Thought leadership through speaking at industry conferences or writing technical blog posts
• Experience with scripting, automation, and software development in multiple languages (Python, JavaScript, Java)

Base salary range: $169,400 – $254,200 CAD annually (Vancouver, BC). Total compensation may include sign-on payments and RSUs. Benefits include health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, basic life & AD&D), RRSP, DPSP, paid time off, and other well-being resources.

10+ years in technology domains such as software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, or data and analytics. 5+ years designing or consulting on applications and infrastructure. Proven experience architecting complex end-to-end cloud solutions. Strong C-level communication skills.
