Civil Engineer Senior Advisor (Markham)

Tractebel Inc. (Canada) is expanding its team and seeks an experienced Civil Engineer for nuclear, hydropower, transportation, and electricity transmission projects. The role, based in Markham with relocation to downtown Toronto, requires a licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario. Key Responsibilities

Oversee the design and calculations of nuclear-related structures and buildings subjected to internal and external hazards. Anticipate problems and project needs regarding civil engineering. Provide technical oversight of reinforcement detailers and review detailing models and drawings. Offer expert oversight and technical direction to teams completing the design of reinforced concrete structures. Perform structural analyses using FEM code. Participate actively in the dynamic analysis of nuclear structures and components for various hazards such as earthquake, gas explosion, tornado, plane crash accident, and high wave impact. Write technical specifications (design requirements) and review technical documents issued by the contractor. Lead, mentor, coach, and train less experienced staff. Check calculation notes of less experienced engineers according to the QA policy of the company. Conduct technical meetings with peers, partners, clients, or suppliers. Maintain effective working relationships with the European and Canada teams to ensure smooth, efficient running of activities within Tractebel Inc. Work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and client’s requirements. Develop a full understanding of, and align with, Tractebel governance and standard working practices, strategies & objectives. Minimum Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. At least ten (10) years of relevant experience as a civil engineer in an engineering consultancy (EPC) environment. Licensed and in good standing to practice as a Professional Engineer in Ontario. Experience working in a highly regulated industry based in Canada. Fluent in English; knowledge of other languages, especially French, is welcome. Engineering knowledge in civil projects associated with industrial or power civil projects, including geotechnical analysis, design, finite element method, and reinforced concrete calculation and design. Self‑driven and able to manage multiple responsibilities in a multi‑disciplinary environment within a multicultural team. Demonstrated ability in planning and conducting civil studies, performing engineering designs and evaluations, and other civil works associated with power generating or industrial facilities. Knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, industry practices, software, and modelling tools related to engineering, construction, and nuclear or hydro facility design. Knowledge of nuclear or hydro domain and safety. Ability to independently problem solve with methods and tools required for Civil Engineering applications. Excellent document preparation skills with the ability to review and produce quality deliverables. Ability to support the development of engineering teams. Role is eligible for our hybrid work policy. Must be available to travel occasionally to other Tractebel locations, client sites, and key industry events. Must be flexible in daily schedule. Must possess a valid driver’s license/clean driving record. Must comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies. Position consists of 20% outdoor work; employee is exposed to weather conditions. Ability to meet highest attendance requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy. Salary Range: $145,200.00 – $222,525.00 CAD annually. Base pay may vary based on geography, experience, education, and other bona fide factors. In addition to base pay, the position is eligible for a competitive bonus/incentive plan. Benefits
