The Housing Team is focused on creating and stewarding a sustainable, equitable, and community-driven parallel housing system that provides opportunities unavailable in the general market. This includes supportive housing, affordable rental, and attainable homeownership models that support people exiting homelessness, strengthen housing stability, and address gaps such as missing-middle housing.

Reporting to the Director, Affordable Housing, the Resident Relations Coordinator, working in coordination with the Property Manager and team, plays a dual role in supporting both the successful leasing of rental units, and the sale of attainable homeownership units, while fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive community for residents. This position is responsible for coordinating intake, leasing processes, and occupancy targets, while also building strong relationships with residents to support housing stability, well-being, community connection, and growing social/economic opportunity.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

• Leasing & Tenant Coordination: Manage the full tenant leasing lifecycle, including inquiry response, application and waitlist administration, lease preparation, tenant onboarding and move-outs, property showings, compliance with residential tenancy legislation and community standards, potential evictions, and maintenance of accurate occupancy and leasing records.
• Attainable Homeownership Support: Support the administration of affordable homeownership programs by promoting the project, managing prospective buyer inquiries, coordinating application intake and eligibility assessments, maintaining applicant records, facilitating the home sale process with legal stakeholders, and supporting homeowner communications and transitions.
• Resident Relations & Community Building: Foster positive resident relationships and community engagement by serving as a trusted point of contact, supporting a safe and inclusive living environment, encouraging resident participation, and promoting a culture of belonging and mutual respect within housing communities.
• Operations & Documentation: Support effective housing operations by working collaboratively with colleagues across teams, maintaining secure and accurate records, and contributing to reporting for leadership and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in social services, business administration, property management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Experience in leasing, property management, or customer service (or ability to learn quickly)
• Familiarity with Residential Tenancy legislation (or ability to quickly learn).
• Experience working with vulnerable populations and diverse communities.
• Ability to manage sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy.
• Ability to source and manage all supply and contracted service needs.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks based on comparative importance and urgency.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and direction.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and a strong attention to detail.
• Confident communication and active listening skills
• Knowledge of common software such as Microsoft Office and Office 365 and property management software (i.e., Yardi)
• WHIMIS certified.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm for continuous learning relevant to the role.
• Detail oriented and strong problem-solving abilities.

United Way Maritimes is committed to a comprehensive compensation package including salary, vacation pay, additional time-off during the December holiday period, and professional development and training. The semi-monthly rate of pay for this position is $1,354.
