Procurement Manager

The Procurement Manager is responsible for planning, managing, and delivering all procurement activities for the IMP Aerostructures manufacturing operation. This role ensures the timely acquisition of raw materials, components, and services required to support production while optimizing costs, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring compliance with quality standards and company policies.

• Lead, mentor, and develop purchasing and procurement personnel.
• Establish performance goals and conduct employee evaluations.
• Promote continuous improvement and best practices within the procurement team.
• Develop and implement purchasing strategies to support manufacturing operations.
• Source, evaluate, negotiate, and manage relationships with suppliers and vendors.
• Negotiate pricing, delivery, and payment terms - and issue purchase orders, contracts, and service agreements to achieve cost savings and meet operational requirements.
• Monitor MRP messages / requisitions with buyers to ensure items are purchased on a timely basis to meet the requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance, including quality, delivery, responsiveness, and cost competitiveness.
• Monitor inventory levels and forecast purchasing requirements.
• Develop strategies to minimize stock shortages, excess inventory, and obsolete materials.
• Identify and implement cost-reduction initiatives without compromising quality or delivery requirements.
• Track purchasing metrics and savings initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical procurement standards.
• Develop and maintain purchasing procedures and controls.

• University degree or combination of education and experience in a related field.
• SCMP or PLog designation or related work experience.
• 5-10 years of procurement experience – ideally in a manufacturing environment.
• 3+ years of leadership experience.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and inventory management.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain operations.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with ERP systems (JD Edwards. SAP, Oracle, etc.).
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office and proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis.
• Occasional travel to supplier locations, trade shows, and manufacturing facilities.
• Ability to work extended hours when required to support operational needs.
• Must be eligible to meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), and Canadian government security clearances.
