Overview
The Saskatchewan Research Council's (SRC) Rare Earth Element (REE) Division is seeking Processing Assistants to join the Research and Development team. These positions are open to varying experience levels, ranging from recent high school graduates to candidates with experience working in processing facilities and industrial environments. There is room to grow with SRC as there may be opportunity for successful Processing Assistants to transition to an operator role once the Rare Earth facility is operational.
Accountabilities
- Follow safety protocols and utilize the provided safety tools and Personal Protective Equipment
- Work alongside operators on various tasks and solve issues as they arise
- Accurately measure, add, mix and lift heavy materials up to 50 lbs
- Assist with installation, repair and maintenance of plant equipment
- Monitor computer feedback and make adjustments to these processes as instructed. Work areas could include REE processing activities such as metals' smelting, solvent extraction, and reagent handling
- Occasionally perform sample collection and bench tests
- Keep a detailed history of shifts utilizing remarks and database entries
- Maintain a clean work area

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to best practices for quality work and workplace safety
- Team player with effective interpersonal, communication and multitasking skills
- Ability to communicate comfortably and effectively to other personnel
- Willingness to learn and stay flexible as daily job tasks may vary
Requirements
- Lifting or moving up to 50 lbs throughout work shifts
- Flexible schedule with work on evenings and weekends, as required
- Extended work hours (up to 12 hours per day), as required
The chosen candidate will be required to provide an original Criminal Record Check that is satisfactory to SRC prior to the commencement of any employment duties. The Criminal Record Check must have been executed within the preceding 30 days of receipt.
This position is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
