Wigmore Regional Hospital City/Town: Moose Jaw Department: Infection Prevention and Control Type: Casual FTE: 0 Shift Information: Days Relief: No Float: No Hours of Work: Field Hours Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band Infection Control Practitioner $44.356 to $53.2 Travel Required: Yes Job : Accountable to the Manager, the Infection Control Practitioner is responsible for providing infection prevention and control related services within the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) integrated service areas by supporting implementation and maintenance of an effective Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) program, providing training and education related to IPAC and infectious diseases, and by consulting on matters related to IPAC as an expert resource. The incumbent will participate in quality improvement or research activities as needed within the SHA. Human Resources Exemption: No Education- Degree in Nursing or relevant Health Sciences Degree acceptable to the Employer
Licenses
- Valid Class 5 driver's license
Other Education and Training
- Current Certification in Infection Control and Epidemiology (CIC) is an asset
Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge in epidemiologic principles, statistics and microbiology
- Knowledge to identify, investigate & control outbreaks of infectious diseases
- Ability to work in a computerized environment
- Knowledge of & able to utilize, principles of program development & teaching
- Ability to communicate components of infection control to staff and patients
- Demonstrates effective leadership and management skills
