Step into the role of Bureau Chief for The Trillium at Village Media in Ottawa. Lead a passionate team to deliver influential federal political news coverage across Ontario. Village Media seeks a seasoned journalist to establish and lead its Ottawa bureau, dedicated to impactful political reporting. You will coordinate efforts between federal coverage and the provincial team at Queen’s Park, focusing on serving the community with accurate and engaging news stories. Your role is vital in ensuring quality journalism that holds governments accountable. Key Responsibilities:
- Direct a reporting team covering federal news for Village Media
- Help launch and structure the Ottawa bureau in collaboration
- Coach reporters in developing sources and investigative skills
- Review stories for quality control and adherence to style
- Represent Village Media in Ottawa’s political scene
- Minimum five years’ experience in journalism focused on federal politics
- Proven leadership in a newsroom environment
- Ability to deliver engaging news stories
- Availability for night and weekend work
- Reside near or within the National Capital Region
