At Collins Aerospace, it’s our people who make the difference and are the backbone of our technologies. We are currently searching for a Junior Software Engineer – Co-Op to join our team in Ottawa, Canada.

Collins Aerospace is a world leader in wireless communications networking, with products such as high‑data‑rate HF/VHF/UHF modems and the Self‑Configuring Relay Network (SCRN) for ad‑hoc wireless networks. Collins Aerospace is developing the next generation of HF radios that support significant throughput improvements and ad‑hoc networking features, as well as developing Software‑Defined Radio networking waveforms for customers around the world.

What You Will Do

• Participate in definition, specification and design of software features.
• Work in a team and individually to develop software according to design and customer requirements.
• Perform integration and test procedures and create reports for product compliance.
• Participate in the ongoing in‑house support of applications and products.
• Position is Hybrid, working a minimum average of 3 days per week in the office.

What You Will Learn

• Experience in the field of HF communications
• Software development in C++ and/or C#
• Mature software development processes for quality software

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must either hold or be eligible for a Government of Canada Secret Level Security Clearance and Controlled Goods Access.
• Enrolled in a post‑secondary software development program.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Sound skills in C/C++ and real‑time embedded computer architectures
• Software development experience in Linux operating systems
• Integrated Development Environments such as Eclipse and Visual Studio, Version Control Systems such as git
• Object‑Oriented programming skills
• Knowledgeable in networking and wireless communication protocols such as TCP, RTP, VoIP
• Knowledgeable in the software life cycle including definition, requirement analysis and design, implementation, validation and support

Additional Information

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
