Title: Community Engagement Coordinator.
Salary: $68,263 - $85,328- $93,861 per year (pay range explained below).
Contract: Permanent.
Hours: 37.5 hours (core hours 9am-3pm Mon-Fri).
Location: Prince Rupert Area, located on the ancestral territory of the Coast Ts'msyen. The engagement area includes the Gitga'at Nation, Gitxaala Nation, Lax Kw'alaams First Nation, and Metlakatla First Nation. A flexible work arrangement may be an option but must live in the Prince Rupert area.
About The Role
As the Coast Ts'msyen Community Engagement Coordinator, you will provide communications, collaboration and planning support to the following communities: Gitga'at Nation, Gitxaala Nation, Lax Kw'alaams First Nation, and Metlakatla First Nation. You will develop and support local community engagement activities as part of a regional team. You will also assist communities in identifying and prioritizing current and emerging health care needs to inform local and regional planning activities. Some travel within the north region is required.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have / be –
Education
- A University degree with specialization in Health Sciences, Education or Social Services or a related field, or an acceptable combination of education, training and professional experience.
Experience
- 3-5 years of relevant, recent and significant experience in the provision of coordination support to First Nation communities, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience working with BC First Nations people at a community and/or political level including in the area of community engagement, organizational development, and supporting traditional ceremonies and cultural practices.
- A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of community engagement and development, provincial and federal health systems, and First Nations health system needs and health-related issues.
- Knowledge of the BC First Nation political and governance landscape and the current community, Nation and Regional contexts.
Competencies
- Ability to develop and document work plans, adapt them as needed, and report on progress.
- Ability to coordinate, design, facilitate meetings and gatherings, and develop pre-reading materials.
- Ability to build and maintain respectful and effective relationships with diverse groups, manage conflicts, and work collaboratively.
- Ability to multi-task, set priorities, manage time effectively, and solve problems, including identifying and escalating issues when necessary.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, utilizing Microsoft Office Suite skills to deliver presentations to various audiences.

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.
Incumbents are typically hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on their knowledge, skills, abilities and experience in relation to the role requirements. The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
