Effects Technical Director Feature Animation Ilm Toronto
The Walt Disney
Join ILM Vancouver as an Effects Technical Director specializing in feature animation. In this hybrid role, you will create advanced FX elements using Houdini alongside a talented team. As a Senior Effects TD, your primary focus will be generating energetic simulations and procedural setups that enhance storytelling.
With at least five years of VFX experience, you will mentor junior artists, handle data management, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality shots. You will engage in regular meetings, contributing to the workflow across departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop procedural animation and fluid systems
- Light complex shots, communicating status effectively
- Provide accurate project time estimates
- Mentor junior artists and oversee shot clean-up
- Present shot work during departmental reviews
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years relevant VFX experience
- Robust skills with Houdini and some Nuke knowledge
- Understanding of visual storytelling, timing, and composition
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Proficient in Python scripting and basic Linux knowledge
