DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintaining and enhancing HACCP Food Safety Enhancement Program (FSEP).
• Coordinating with departmental team members in improving the HACCP FSEP and compliance to BRCGS requirements inclusive of the Food Quality Plan.
• Hosting third party regulatory/system audits including audits by CFIA.
• Communicating and coordinating efforts with government agencies, CFIA Inspectors and Auditors, contractors, and customers.
• Facilitating quarterly BRCGS/HACCP food safety Committee meetings. Preparing agenda and minutes of the meeting. Following up on all action items from the meeting to ensure closure.
• Conducting internal audits to validate the effectiveness of the HACCP FSEP and Quality System.
• Organizing, maintaining, and supporting the HACCP Plans, Quality Plans, Sanitation Programs, Prerequisite Programs, Pest Control Program and Recall System.
• Performing reassessment of the HACCP FSEP requirements against CFIA Appendix/Guideline requirements to ensure continuing effectiveness of the program.
• Support mock recall to ensure that the recall system is current and effective. Where required, coordinating recall efforts with Corporate and external agencies.
• Providing HACCP/GMP/Biosecurity/BRCGS training to new employees or when changes to the programs.
• Providing HACCP/GMP/Biosecurity/BRCGS refresher training to existing employees or to their respective Supervisors who will then train their own employees.
• Investigating HACCP related issues and work with plant personnel and QA in determining root cause, identifying cause of deviation, documenting and implementing corrective/preventative actions and verifying to ensure that actions taken were effective.
• Maintaining Non-Conformance Requests (NCRs) file.
• Providing support to plant and office personnel in areas pertinent to HACCP program.
• Acting as one of the main contacts in the event of a product recall.
• Report any risk or evidence of unsafe or out-of-specification product, equipment, packaging, or raw materials, to QA manager, to enable the resolution of food safety and quality issues.
• Acting as the Gluten Free Management System (GFMS) team lead.
