Job Description
This role is based in our New York, or Orlando office.
The Event Content & Programming Producer develops and delivers engaging in-person programming across an assigned portfolio of FAN EXPO HQ shows in the United States. The role independently manages assigned shows, builds and maintains community and industry partnerships, and coordinates closely with Show Management, Operations, Marketing, other Content Producers, and the role's dedicated cross-functional micro-team. The Content Producer reports to the Senior Manager, Events and Programming.
This position focuses on live event content and programming. Digital and social media content creation is led by the Marketing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently manage assigned shows within the Content Producer's portfolio, from planning through on-site execution, while escalating material risks and decisions to the Senior Manager, Events and Programming.
- Research, develop, schedule, and deliver engaging programming across a range of pop culture genres.
- Build and maintain programming schedules; assign rooms and show-floor locations; document operational requirements; and coordinate move-in, access, and on-site instructions.
- Proactively identify and pursue new community, industry, and other partnership opportunities that can strengthen programming and on-site content activations.
- Serve as the primary contact for assigned partners and exhibitors, maintaining clear and consistent communication to support seamless execution of programming and on-site content activations.
- Develop and execute collaborative community and fan programming, including partner allocations, schedules, and related show-floor requirements.
- Coordinate with the Sales team and relevant internal stakeholders to deliver sponsor or client programming commitments for assigned shows.
- Provide regular updates to other Content Producers and the dedicated micro-team, including Show Management, Operations, and Marketing; identify and communicate potential issues early; and contribute creative ideas and practical solutions.
- Foster teamwork, transparency, and constructive collaboration in support of strong execution and team morale.
- Research competitor events, monitor audience and industry trends, and remain current across relevant pop culture communities.
- Travel to at least 25% of FAN EXPO HQ shows annually; provide on-site support for MEGACON Orlando, FAN EXPO Canada, and at least three additional shows each year beyond those in the assigned portfolio.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years of experience in comic conventions, live events, entertainment, or a related industry, with responsibility for content, programming, events, and/or community outreach.
- Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of pop culture genres, which may include comics, anime, horror, gaming, cosplay, science fiction, and fantasy.
- College or university degree in communications, media, arts, or a related field is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and substantial administrative responsibilities during show preparation periods.
- Clear, consistent, and proactive written and verbal communication with internal teams, partners, and exhibitors.
- A collaborative working style and the ability to contribute effectively within a cross-functional team environment.
- Creativity, attention to detail, sound judgment, and adaptability in a fast-moving live event environment.
- Availability to travel within the United States and Canada and to work the extended or non-standard hours required for live event delivery.
