We are seeking a  Manager, Corporate Communications and Engagement to join our team in  VICTORIA, British Columbia, Canada. 

As Manager, Corporate Communications and Engagement, you will shape corporate and executive communications that advance BC Pension Corporation’s strategic priorities, strengthen its reputation and enhance its external presence. As a trusted senior advisor, you will provide clear, evidence-informed direction on high-profile matters and help align communications with corporate priorities.
You are a collaborative people leader who builds strong relationships, exercises sound judgement and manages competing priorities. You will guide and develop a talented team, oversee complex projects and turn strategic direction into clear, effective communications.

Hybrid Work Model
This position is located in our Victoria, BC office. You will have the flexibility to work part of the time on-campus and part of the time off-campus. The requirement for on-campus presence is a minimum of 40% of your schedule in a month. 

Additional requirements are determined by the role functions and operational needs of each business area.  

Responsibilities

• Leads the corporate communications team in planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating external and executive communications strategies, products and initiatives that support the Corporation’s strategic priorities, reputation and business outcomes. 
• Oversee the development of executive and board-facing communication materials, including proactive issue management, crisis communications, corporate storytelling, sentiment analysis and tracking, and positioning on complex topics.
• Establishes strong working relationships with internal business partners and executives and collaborates closely with the Manager, Internal Communications and Digital Marketing and Manager, Executive Operations, to lead the development of effective communications strategies, materials, and channels that ensure a consistent and credible brand experience.
• Provides strategic communications advice, options and guidance to senior leaders and executives on complex, sensitive or high-profile matters, supporting informed decision-making, reputation management and alignment with corporate priorities.
• Supports crisis and issues communications planning and response, providing messaging and interest holder engagement plans to protect organizational reputation and maintain trust.
• Seeks new methods and creative strategies to increase external and client awareness of key initiatives and organizational priorities, including the launch of new programs, thought leadership content, community engagement, corporate milestones, and other topics of strategic interest.
• Establishes communications performance measures, analyzes results and recommends improvements to support continuous improvement and progress toward branch goals.
• Provides day‑to‑day supervision, guidance and coaching to a team of communication professionals, including assigning and coordinating work, setting expectations, supporting performance and development goal setting and escalating performance or behavioural issues as appropriate.
• Builds collaborative relationships with leaders, business partners and communications colleagues to support integrated planning, consistent messaging and coordinated delivery.
• Prepares and negotiates contracts, monitors performance and authorizes payment.
• Contributes to branch planning and budget development by providing input on communication priorities, resource needs, work planning and operational requirements.

Qualifications
Must have

• Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing or a related field. 
• Five years of recent (within 7 years) progressively responsible leadership experience in communications, public relations or corporate communications in a complex organization that includes: 
• Developing, implementing and evaluating corporate, external or executive communications strategies, plans and products. 
• Supervising staff in a communications, public relations or corporate communications environment, including assigning work, setting expectations, coaching employees, and supporting performance management.
• Providing strategic communications advice, options and recommendations to senior leaders or executives on complex, sensitive or high-profile matters. 
• Developing executive-level communications materials, including briefing notes, presentations, reports, messaging, strategic narratives, strategy documents, or proposals. 
• Leading communications planning and delivery for issues management, crisis communications, reputation management or other sensitive matters. 
• Developing and implementing stakeholder engagement or public relations strategies for multiple audiences or stakeholder groups. 
• Using research, data, analytics, sentiment analysis or performance measures to assess communications effectiveness and recommend improvements. 
• Managing communications projects, client relationships, competing priorities, and deliverables in a deadline-driven environment. 
• Establishing collaborative working relationships with senior leaders, business areas and communications partners to support coordinated communications planning and delivery.
• An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.

Nice to have:

• Developing, delivering and measuring integrated communications programs in government, a Crown corporation, a regulated industry or another complex public-facing organization.  
• Overseeing multimedia communications products, such as publications, video, presentations, digital content, or other corporate communications materials.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated ability to apply quantitative and qualitative research skills to develop effective and efficient communications programs.
• Strong knowledge of corporate communications principles, practices, and emerging trends, including the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing and to write and edit collateral materials.
• Demonstrated knowledge of corporate social media strategy, governance, and channel management in a professional or regulated environment.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship‑building skills, including the ability to influence, persuade, and collaborate effectively with staff and executives at all levels.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to motivate, mentor, and coach others; resolve conflict; and lead through change.
• Ability to anticipate client needs, gather requirements, and develop sound options and recommendations while identifying issues and driving effective solutions.
• Strong project management, presentation, and time management skills, with the ability to initiate and champion projects and drive them to successful completion.
• Working understanding of related digital disciplines such as User Experience, content strategy and creation, and production.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, including the ability to create clear, visually effective PowerPoint presentations.
