Nanny and Household Helper

About the job We are a family with twin 3-year-old boys and one cat. We are looking for a kind, reliable person to care for our boys and help keep our home running well. This is a temporary job. It covers a maternity leave and will last about 12 to 15 months. We guarantee 40 hours of pay every week, even in weeks when we need less help. Occasionally there will be opportunities to work overtime (if we have an evening work event, etc.) for additional pay at overtime rates. Hours and pay

• $22 to $25 per hour, depending on your experience.
• Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break.
• 40 hours per week, guaranteed.
• Paid every two weeks by direct deposit.
• Extra hours are optional and paid at 1.5 times your hourly rate.
• Holidays and time off follow Alberta employment law.

What you will do Your main job is caring for our boys. Childcare

• Keep the boys safe, happy, and busy with fun activities.
• Take the boys outside every day. This is very important to us. Walks, parks, playgrounds, and backyard play, in every season (scooters, bikes, sledding, soccer, baseball, etc.)
• Pick-up from neighborhood preschool (3x/week)
• Make healthy meals and snacks, and feed the boys.
• Help with potty training. Change diapers if/when needed.
• Follow nap and quiet times, and daily routines.

You will also help with work around the house. We want to make sure you are comfortable with this type of work. Cooking

• Wash, chop, and prepare fruits and vegetables.
• Cook dinner and pack lunches.
• Clean out the fridge and pantry (Weekly)

Cleaning

• Tidy up each day.
• Vacuum, sweep, and mop floors (Weekly)
• Dust.
• Deeper cleaning on a regular schedule, such as appliances and windows (Usually when we are out of town)

Laundry

• Wash, dry, and fold the family's clothes.
• Change the bed sheets every week.
• Iron sheets and clothes.

Pet care

• Feed our cat and clean the litter box.
• You do not need experience with pets. You do need to be comfortable around a cat.

Errands

• Grocery shopping, using a list or a recipe. (Rarely, usually we handle groceries)
• Drop off and pick up dry cleaning.
• Drop off and pick up packages at the post office.

Travel (only if you want to)

• Sometimes we travel and would like childcare help on the trip.
• This is optional. You can say no. We will talk about each trip with you first.
• You will be paid for your hours, we will pay your travel costs, and you will get time off.

What we are looking for

• Experience caring for young children.
• Comfortable with the range of work listed above.
• Legally allowed to work in Canada. We are not able to sponsor a work permit for this job.
• Good enough English to talk with us and follow instructions. It does not have to be perfect.
• Two references we can call.
• A clear criminal record check, including a check for working with children. We will pay for it.

Nice to have, but not required:

• A driver’s licence and your own vehicle.
• First aid and CPR training.
