About  the Opportunity  

The JHUB  B ’not   Sherut program brings 6-10  post-high school young Israeli leaders to Toronto for a year of volunteer service, helping to strengthen Hebrew language and  proficiency within our partner Jewish Day Schoos.   

Reporting to the Director of School Age and Teen Programs , the Program  Specialist will serve as co-mentor and primary point of contact for the participating  B’ not   Sherut . The  Specialist   will work collaboratively with the JHUB team to support the  B’ not   Sherut’s professional and personal growth,  optimize their integration into the schools and community, and maximize their impact throughout the year.  

In addition, the Program  Specialist   will oversee participant wellness and  logistics ,  facilitate regular check-ins and programming, support relationships with the schools and wider school communities, and help create meaningful leadership, educational, and community engagement opportunities.  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:  

• Personal Mentoring – Provide individualized mentorship to support the personal and professional growth of each  B’not   Sherut throughout the year.  

• Professional Mentoring – Guide and support the  B’not   Sherut in developing and implementing engaging educational initiatives that strengthen Hebrew language learning and Hebrew immersion within early childhood and day school settings at partner schools.  

• Team Collaboration – Participate in regular   team meetings to address mentoring challenges and committee dynamics.  

• Program Oversight – Plan and  coordinate the annual  B’not   Sherut interview and selection process.  

• Logistical Management –  mange all the program’s logistical needs, including transportation, vulnerable checks,  OHIP , stipends, winter clothing, etc.  

• Housing and Wellness Coordination –  Oversee and support the  B’not   Sherut’s independent living arrangements, including housing  logistics , day-to-day wellness, and ongoing support to help ensure a safe, positive, and successful year in Toronto.  

• Progress Reporting – Prepare and present periodic progress report to the Donor.  

Qualifications:
 

• Post-secondary education preferred (e.g., Education, Psychology, Social Work, Jewish Studies, or related field), or equivalent experience
  


• An educator at heart, with strong pedagogical insight and experience in working with Israeli Teens in experiential education context.  

• Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.  

• Excellent interpersonal, relationship-building, and communication skills.  

• Fluency in spoken and written English and Hebrew required.  

• High level of availability and responsiveness. B’not Sherut are young Israelis living abroad for the first time and require consistent support, guidance, and care.  

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and occasional overnight programs (e.g., retreats, Shabbatons).  

• Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate across departments and partner organizations.  

• Advanced computer proficiency.  

• Deep knowledge of Israeli society and strong familiarity with the Toronto Jewish community.  

• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are an asset.  

*This is a full-time 12-month contract position, .   Salary Range: $55,000–$65,000 annually, based on experience.
