Operations Manager - Civil Construction

Our client, a growing civil contractor in the Langley, BC, specializing in Civil Infrastructure, Site Services, Utilities, Excavation, and Shoring projects, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead and oversee their Project Management and Estimating teams. This is a key leadership position reporting directly to company ownership and will play a critical role in driving operational performance, strategic growth, and overall project success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership, mentorship, and oversight to a team of 3 Project Managers and 2 Estimators, ensuring alignment with company objectives and performance expectations.
• Work directly with ownership to develop and execute operational strategies, business plans, and growth initiatives.
• Oversee project delivery from pre-construction through completion, ensuring projects are executed safely, profitably, and efficiently.
• Review project performance, schedules, budgets, staffing requirements, and resource allocation across multiple projects.
• Support the estimating team in bid strategy, risk assessment, pricing reviews, and proposal submissions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, project execution, and profitability.
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and key stakeholders.
• Provide guidance and support in resolving project challenges, contractual issues, and operational bottlenecks.
• Monitor KPIs, financial performance, and project outcomes while identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, collaboration, and high performance across the organization.

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in civil construction project management and estimating, with a strong understanding of both project delivery and pre-construction processes.
• Previous leadership experience managing Project Managers, Estimators, or project teams is preferred but not required.
• Could be an experienced Operations Manager or an ambitious up-and-coming Project Manager/Estimator looking to take the next step into an operational leadership role.
• Strategic thinker with the ability to take initiative, identify opportunities for improvement, and take ownership of outcomes.
• Meticulous, organized, and detail-oriented with strong commercial and operational acumen.
• Experience with civil infrastructure, utilities, excavation, site servicing, shoring, or related heavy civil projects.
• Strong understanding of project financials, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and contract administration.
• Experience leading or contributing to large, complex bids and heavy civil projects is considered a strong asset.
• Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills.
• Comfortable working directly with ownership and playing a key role in the company's long-term growth and success.
