Position Summary

The Screening Plant & Crusher Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring portable crushing and screening equipment while also supporting material handling using a loader. This role works as part of a mobile crew, travelling with the portable plant to various job sites across the Elora, Kitchener, and Waterloo areas based on project needs. The operator plays a key role in maintaining consistent production, ensuring equipment runs safely and efficiently, and performing basic maintenance and labour support tasks.

This is a seasonal, physically demanding, outdoor position that requires flexibility to work extended hours, typically 10-to-12-hour shifts during peak periods, in varying weather and site conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor portable crushing and screening equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and consistent production
• Perform setup, adjustments, and basic troubleshooting of the plant as required on active job sites
• Safely operate a loader to feed material into the plant and support stockpiling activities
• Conduct routine equipment inspections and complete daily logs and required documentation
• Perform basic maintenance including cleaning, lubricating, and minor repairs on plant and equipment
• Maintain site cleanliness and perform general labour duties, including shoveling around belts and conveyors
• Follow all health, safety, and environmental policies and participate in hazard assessments and safety meetings
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members to coordinate daily work and address issues
• Travel with the portable plant to various job sites and support operations wherever required

Requirements

Must Have

• Proven hands-on experience operating crushing and/or screening equipment in a construction, aggregates, or materials environment
• Valid G driver’s license with a clean driving record
• Ability and willingness to travel with the portable plant and work at various job sites
• Ability to work extended hours, including 10-to-12-hour shifts during peak season
• Comfortable performing physically demanding work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions

Nice to Have

• Experience operating a loader in a production or plant environment
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment maintenance or troubleshooting
• Experience working in portable plant operations or mobile crews
• Experience in construction or aggregates/materials operations

Compensation

$29.75 - $33.01 per hour
