Field Archaeologist at Stantec

Contribute to archaeological projects with Stantec as a Junior Archaeologist. Engage in fieldwork, excavation, and research while traveling within Atlantic Canada.

This role involves assisting with archaeological fieldwork and reporting in line with provincial standards. Key responsibilities include conducting field walkovers, test pit surveys, and interpreting soil stratigraphy. You'll also identify artifacts both in the field and during cataloguing in the office, and help prepare necessary permit applications and assessment reports.

Key Responsibilities: • Assist with archaeological fieldwork and compliance reporting • Conduct field walkovers to identify resources • Perform hand excavations of test pits and units • Staking grids and documenting findings in the field • Prepare applications for permits and impact assessments

Requirements: • Master’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology preferred • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record • Ability to lift 50lbs and work in varied conditions • Willingness to travel and work remotely • Strong communication and time management skills
