The role

We are looking for a Senior/Staff Site Reliability Engineer - Edge to own edge compute module : the standard hardware + OS + runtime that integrates cleanly with our mesh radios, sensors, and the AuraNet SDK. One module. Reproducible. Hardened. Field-ready.

Concretely, that means owning the path from a developer prototyping fast on the bench to a locked-down device a customer deploys in the field — without those being two different worlds held together by tribal knowledge.

First 6–12 months (what good looks like)

• A standard, documented provisioning pipeline — image build, flash, config, attest — replacing today's one-off, misconfigured boxes.

• A hardened base OS baseline across all nodes. We want to move to SELinux-enforcing as the default , not an afterthought. You'll drive this with Security (you'll work directly with our Head of Security).

• Secure boot + supply-chain integrity from silicon to running workload: signed images, verified provenance, no mystery binaries.

• A dev-to-field story: fast internal prototyping that translates into a hardened, reproducible field build with no rewrite.

• Observability that survives DDIL — telemetry that works within real link, power, and thermal budgets, and that doubles as a security signal.

What you'll do day to day

• Build and maintain the standard edge module and its provisioning/lifecycle tooling.

• Define the reliability story from scratch: what "up" means at the edge, what we measure, what budgets we operate within. (No SLOs exist yet — you set them.)

• Harden images, enforce supply-chain integrity, stand up secure boot and attestation.

• Make the module integrate cleanly with mesh radios, sensors, and the AuraNet SDK.

• Partner tightly with Security on the hardened baseline — you are a co-owner of that posture, not a downstream consumer of it.

• Kill tribal knowledge: document, standardize, automate procurement and provisioning.

Must-haves

• Senior/Staff-level depth running Linux at the edge — embedded/SBC reality, not just cloud VMs.

• Real DDIL experience : you've built things that work disconnected, intermittent, and bandwidth/power-constrained, and you design for it instinctively.

• Edge / embedded fluency: Jetson-class compute, ARM, ROS, cross-compilation, the works.

• Strong networking fundamentals — you can reason about and debug a constrained, multi-hop network down to the packet.

• Comfort owning a greenfield function: you impose order on chaos and like it.

Nice-to-haves

• Mesh / RF experience (we live here).

• Defence or regulated-industry background.

• Hands-on with SELinux, secure boot, TPM/attestation, reproducible builds, supply-chain tooling.

• Cold/thermal/environmental hardware testing exposure.

No defence background required.
