Pastry Chef

Job Description

As Aramark continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Pastry Chef to join our operations and lead a small team in the creation of pastries and desserts for meal service and catered events. Reporting to the Executive Chef and working in conjunction with the management team on a daily basis, the Pastry Chef oversees all activities of pastry cooks and other kitchen personnel engaged in preparing and cooking foods, in addition to managing, training, and providing culinary vision.

Job Responsibilities

• Overseeing the production of pastries, breads and other baked goods for multiple locations and catering functions
• Providing high quality food in a professional and efficient manner and in compliance with all health & safety regulations 
• Responsible for overseeing staff scheduling, tracks daily labour on schedule and reports to Food Service Director on a daily basis
• Responsible for inventory controls, food, labour and direct costs
• Conducts a weekly inventory
• Ensures quality, courteous service is provided to all customers including proper and accurate signage displayed for all items served
• Works in conjunction with the Human Resources department to manage all hiring, staffing, labour, progressive discipline, accommodation, training and administration of HR policies and procedures 
• Develops and motivating team members and providing culinary leadership and training Developing and planning of menu, including recipe testing

Qualifications

• 5+ years in the culinary field or comparable role, with a focus in Pastry experience 
• Professional culinary training is an asset; Red Seal Certification, Food Safe Certification 
• Excellent culinary tastes and artistic flair for creating unique recipes and appealing dish presentation 
• People management skills with experience training and supervising team members 
• Working knowledge and training on all health & safety standards and sanitation standards ie. Food Safe, WHMIS, Health and Safety Policies, food-handling techniques 
• Ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with diverse people, including kitchen and dining staff 
• Ability to respond quickly to issues and make effective decisions under pressure 
• Contribute to a positive work environment and demonstrate a positive attitude

The pay range for this position is $65,000.00 - $70,000.00.
