Location: 700A Mackenzie Blvd, Mackenzie, BC V0J 2C0 (In-Person)

Pay & Benefits: $55,000 – $75,000 CAD / year + Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO

About the Role

Hagen’s Home Hardware Building Centre is seeking a hands-on General Manager to lead our store team and contractor operations in Mackenzie, BC.

Reporting directly to executive leadership, you will oversee a team of 10–15 employee culture, drive store operational excellence, and lead front-of-house retail growth. We need a sales-minded leader who thrives at the trade desk—someone who can build contractor relationships, upsell products, and guide everyday DIY customers through their home projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive Retail & Contractor Sales: Lead front-of-house operations, manage contractor accounts, and actively upsell hardware and building supplies.
• Consultative Customer Service: Help DIYers and tradespeople solve project issues and ensure accurate order fulfillment.
• Store & Team Leadership: Manage daily store operations, schedule and mentor 11–50 employees, and foster a positive, productive work environment.
• Operations & Financial Oversight: Oversee inventory control, POS systems, gross margins, and workflow process improvements.
• Yard & Logistics Support: Coordinate with the lumber yard and delivery teams to ensure timely contractor shipments.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of management experience in a retail building supply, hardware, or lumber environment (e.g., Home Hardware, RONA, Castle, Timber Mart).
• Proven Sales Capability: Hands-on experience running a contractor trade desk, managing margins, and upselling building materials.
• Product Knowledge: Strong understanding of residential building materials, hardware, lumber, and general DIY construction.
• Leadership Skills: Proven track record in team building, operational management, and financial oversight.
• Cold-Weather Readiness: Comfortable living and working in Northern BC
