As an Operations Manager, you'll spend the majority of your time supporting field operations, mentoring leaders, building client partnerships, and ensuring operational excellence across a diverse portfolio. Reporting to the District Manager and/or Regional Operations Director, the Operations Manager (OM) is responsible for overseeing portfolios for a specific region to ensure efficiency and effectiveness and execute the strategic vision of the regional and Senior Leadership Team. Operations Managers foster long term relationships by delivering operational excellence to meet client and customer needs. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced and deadline driven environment. The OM also provides direction and expertise to the region by promoting corporate strategies and best practices aligned with our Vision and Values.

This is a safety-sensitive position requiring drug and alcohol testing and a criminal background check as a condition of employment.

WHAT IS THE ROLE?

This role holds expansive responsibilities for the performance of multiple contracts across their district. 

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following, as well as related duties incidental to the work described therein:

 

Performance Management & Continuous Improvement

• Standardize SOPs, reporting tools, and service models across sites
• Lead change management initiatives to improve service delivery and efficiency
• Build and deploy operational systems aligned to corporate/client standards
• Coordinate with other department leaders to solution problems.
• Liaise with District Manager, Regional Operations Director and other OM’s and ensure the consistent implementation of strategic initiatives to all field operation groups.
• Mentor and train all direct reports
• Ensure compliance with employment standards, human rights, health and safety, and WHMIS within all regions.

HSEQ Leadership

• Promote the company values and be a leader in health and safety.
• Monitor KPIs and coach site leaders to meet targets.
• Analyze site-level data to identify trends and opportunities.
• Support site leadership with incident response, investigation and reporting.
• Support training on company Quality (FTQ) and Safety (Sphera) platforms.
• Implement regional HSEQ programs; ensure compliance and readiness
• Lead emergency preparedness planning and training

Financial & Client Stewardship

• Review audit results; direct corrective actions and recognition programs
• Manage regional budgets and P&L performance
• Oversee and support regional and site purchasing

Workforce Planning & Leadership Development

• Serve as escalation point for client issues; maintain strong relationships
• Approve purchases and staffing plans
• Ensure completion of scheduled internal and client audits.

Working Conditions:

• Travel throughout northwestern Ontario is required, including flight and/or helicopter access sites.

• Work will be 75% + based in the field supporting active operations.

• Ability to work long shifts and rotational schedules.

• Occasional travel to other projects across Canada.

• Extended periods away from home with possible weather-related travel delays.

• Must comply with all company and client health, safety, and operational standards.

Physical Demands:

• Extended periods of standing, walking, and on-site presence in remote locations.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 40–50 lbs.
• Work in varying environmental conditions, including extreme weather.
• Travel to multiple sites, including fly-in/fly-out locations.

 

Qualifications

 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of progressive management experience in hospitality, remote camp operations, or similar fields.
• Post-secondary education in business, hospitality, or a related discipline preferred.
• WHMIS and other relevant safety certifications (or willingness to obtain).
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.
• Comfortable with long drives in remote areas.

Competencies:

• Proven leadership and supervisory experience in hospitality, remote camp, or related operations.
• Demonstrated ability to attracts, develop, and retain employees.
• Strong client service focus with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and operational management tools.
• Strong understanding of Health & Safety compliance.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision during remote shifts
• Cultural sensitivity and adaptability in diverse team environments.

 

Additional Information

Work schedule and remuneration: 

Operations Managers typically work on a rotational schedule of 2 weeks on/2 week off, which may change on occasion due to operations needs. Site locations are in remote settings, requiring either air travel to site, or via ground on our shuttle. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays.
