Shipper/Receiver

About the Position

The Shipper/Receiver is responsible for sending sampling supplies to clients, as well as receiving laboratory supplies and samples from vendors and clients, respectively.

Specific Responsibilities

• Receive and unload incoming materials and compares information on packing slip with purchase order to verify accuracy of shipment;
• Inspect shipments for damages or defects, records discrepancies and notifies supervisor and/or purchaser;
• Evaluate and segregate bottles for proofing protocols
• Pre-prepare sample kits (i.e. terracores)
• Maintain full bins of sample bottles
• Prepare, pack, and ship sample bottle orders and preservatives to clients using appropriate couriers and procedures to ensure items are safely delivered and free of contamination;
• Responsible for sample reception, sorting, archiving, and disposal;
• Delivery and pick up of samples;
• Complete required shipping paperwork and communication with couriers;
• Maintain a clean work area;
• Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Good English communication skills required (auditory, verbal, writing, and reading);
• Basic user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and confident with computers;
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment;
• Well organized, with proven ability to meet strict deadlines;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required;

Required Qualifications

• Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required;
• 2 years’ experience working in a warehouse or fast-paced environment, with 1 year in shipping/receiving;
• Customer service experience is an asset;
• Previous Forklift license/experience is an asset;
Valid provincial Class 5 driver’s license.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs./23 kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances;
• Extensive walking or movement, bending, and kneeling for a full shift;
• Ability to use lift assist equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks;

• An estimated hourly pay of $19.09 CAD at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
