Our client is a respected commercial real estate owner and property management firm with a growing portfolio of office, retail, and industrial assets throughout St. John's and the surrounding region. With a strong reputation for operational excellence and tenant service, they are seeking a skilled Commercial Building Operator to join their team.
Your New Role
As the Commercial Building Operator, you will play a key role in ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of commercial building systems. You will be responsible for maintaining HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems while supporting tenants and ensuring properties remain safe, efficient, and well-maintained.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating, monitoring, and maintaining building systems and equipment
- Performing preventative and corrective maintenance on HVAC, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
- Completing regular building inspections and identifying maintenance requirements
- Responding to tenant service requests in a professional and timely manner
- Coordinating contractors and service providers as required
- Maintaining maintenance logs, compliance records, and work orders
- Assisting with capital projects, energy management initiatives, and system upgrades
- Participating in after-hours emergency response as required
What You'll Need to Succeed
- 3+ years of experience in commercial building operations or facilities maintenance
- Building Systems Technician, Power Engineering, or other recognized technical certification preferred
- Working knowledge of HVAC, BAS, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and life safety systems
- Strong troubleshooting and preventative maintenance skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation
