About the Opportunity Our client, a Toronto-based lower mid-market private equity fund, is preparing to expand into the Montreal market and is seeking a high-potential investment professional to lead the buildout of its Quebec presence.
This is a unique opportunity to step into a foundational role and help establish a new office from the ground up. The successful candidate will join as a core member of the investment team, playing an important role across transaction execution, fundraising support, investor relationship development, and the firm’s broader growth strategy in Quebec.
This role is well-suited to an entrepreneurial, self-driven investment skilled who is comfortable operating with autonomy, building relationships, and contributing to a growing platform at a meaningful stage of expansion.
Key Responsibilities Lead and support investment opportunities across the full transaction lifecycle, including sourcing, evaluation, due diligence, financial analysis, structuring, execution, and portfolio support.
Act as a key on-the-ground representative for our client in the Montreal and broader Quebec market.
Build and maintain strong relationships with local business owners, intermediaries, advisors, investors, executives, and other market participants.
Support fundraising initiatives, including investor relationship management, preparation of materials, and participation in investor discussions.
Contribute to the firm’s Quebec market strategy, including identifying opportunities for growth, partnerships, and local presence-building.
Work closely with the Toronto-based investment team on active transactions, portfolio company initiatives, and strategic firm priorities.
Operate independently in an early-stage office environment while maintaining strong alignment with the broader firm.
Over time, help build and mentor a local Montreal-based team as the office scales.
Qualifications Significant experience in private equity, investment banking, M&A; advisory, corporate finance, or transaction advisory.
Prior experience at a private equity firm, investment bank, or Big 4 corporate finance, deal advisory, or transaction services group is highly relevant.
Strong financial modelling, valuation, due diligence, and transaction execution capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships with business owners, investors, advisors, and other key stakeholders.
Exposure to fundraising, investor relations, or capital-raising activities is considered a strong asset.
Fully bilingual in English and French, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
Solid knowledge of the Quebec business market, or a demonstrated ability to build local market relationships quickly.
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently, take initiative, and build structure in a new market.
High degree of professionalism, judgement, discretion, and interpersonal maturity.
Interest in taking on a leadership-oriented role within a growing investment platform.
Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is a VP-level investment qualified who is ready to take the next step into a highly visible, market-building role. They bring strong technical investment capabilities, commercial instincts, and the confidence to represent the firm externally.
They are comfortable working in a lean, entrepreneurial environment and are motivated by the opportunity to help establish a new regional presence.
