Software Development Team Lead

Job Responsibility:

Helcim is searching for a talented Software Development Lead to join us on our mission to become the world's most loved payments company. As a Software Development Lead, you will play a crucial role in shaping and delivering high-impact software solutions. You will lead a team of passionate software developers, drive innovation, and contribute to the continued success of our platform.

As a leader in our Software Development team, you will be working on Helcim's technical challenges and working across multiple teams to improve our tooling, standards, and the overall reliability of our platform. What you will do:

• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to a team of software developers, fostering a culture of teamwork and innovation.
• Collaborate with product managers and cross-functional teams to define project goals, scope, and timelines.
• Practice continuous deployment operating existing systems and delivering value frequently to users.
• Drive the successful delivery of projects from conception to deployment.
• Hire and retain exceptional software developers.
• Ensure the highest standards of code quality, performance, and security. Research and implement best practices in software development.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices. Drive the adoption of new technologies to enhance our platform's capabilities.
• Work closely with other development teams, product managers, and stakeholders to align development efforts to ensure the best possible customer experience.

Who you are:

• Proven experience leading software development teams.
• Strong technical expertise in one or more programming languages
• In-depth knowledge of software development methodologies, design patterns, and best practices.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Experience with distributed systems, scalability, and performance optimization.
• Previous experience in the fintech or payments industry is a plus.
• Previous experience with Vue, Golang, or PHP is a plus.

Requirements:

• 3-5 years of professional software development experience.
• 1-3 years of experience managing software development teams.
• Education might include a Bachelor's, technical degree, bootcamp or other certifications in computer programming, computer science or object-oriented software development, or equivalent.

Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada and be located in Calgary for this position. Helcim uses a hybrid work structure where team members can work 3 days in the Calgary office (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) and 2 days (Tuesday/Thursday) at home.
