Student Appeals Manager

Job Responsibility:

Applications are invited for the position of Student Appeals Manager, in the Enrolment Services Division, located at the Welland Campus. The salary range is $85,529 to $106,911 for a 35 hour work week. Additional hours may be required as necessary.

Reporting to the Registrar, Senior Director Enrolment Services, the successful candidate is responsible for coordinating the academic appeal process on behalf of the college and Registrar, including chairing all formal hearings. They are also a key college resource in overseeing academic integrity issues and student academic misconduct at the college.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Corresponding and interacting with students, academic administrators, and appeal panel members, on matters including, collecting and analyzing appeal submissions and determining eligible evidence
• Coordinating formal hearings and securing panel members to hear the case, finalizing documentation of the event, and communicating the outcome to all parties involved
• Reviewing policies, procedures, and processes to continually improve the framework to manage appeals and misconduct
• Create communication campaigns at the appropriate time of the term to engage students with strategies to avoid misconduct, as well as leveraging technology to make educational materials more accessible/available to students
• Supporting enrolment services directors with special initiatives, including, participating on committees/working groups dealing with behaviour or misconduct concerns and liaising with Campus Safety and Security for requests related to student privacy or identity verification

Qualifications:

• Minimum four (4) year degree in a related field of study, with a focus on communications
• Minimum five (5) years experience in policy interpretation, and policy/procedure development
• Experience in investigative processes and reviews of evidence, conflict resolution and dealing with escalated situations
• Demonstrated organizational, analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Excellent listening, oral, written and presentation skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality in a professional manner
