Manager, Plating & Silver Operations

The Mint is hiring a Manager, Plating & Silver Operations who can thrive in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

Reporting to the Director, Operations, Plating, Silver & Quality, the Manager, Plating & Silver Operations is responsible for leading and coordinating production activities within the Plating and Silver areas to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations that meet organizational objectives for health and safety, quality, environmental compliance, productivity, and customer delivery. Working in partnership with another Manager, Plating & Silver Operations, this position provides leadership and direction to supervisors and operational teams, manages workforce development and training, monitors key performance indicators to drive continuous improvement, and works collaboratively with Planning, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and other stakeholders to optimize operational performance. The incumbent is responsible for leading a team of approximately 5 people.

Your Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop supervisors and operational teams within the Plating and Silver areas to achieve production, quality, safety, environmental, and business objectives.
• Oversee daily manufacturing operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable production while meeting customer delivery requirements, operational targets, and service-level expectations.
• Promote a culture of health, safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence by ensuring compliance with legislation, corporate policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Monitor, analyze, and improve operational performance through the effective use of key performance indicators, including productivity, process efficiency, yield, labor utilization, quality, safety, and environmental performance.
• Collaborate with Planning, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and other stakeholders to optimize resources, resolve operational challenges, and support the successful execution of business priorities.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance productivity, reduce waste, improve process capability, strengthen product quality, and increase overall operational effectiveness.
• Manage workforce planning, employee development, training, performance management, and succession planning while ensuring compliance with collective agreements and organizational policies.
• Build organizational capability through workforce planning, succession planning, employee development, and knowledge transfer initiatives to ensure long-term operational sustainability and leadership continuity.

This position requires you to work from the Winnipeg location five days per week in an afternoon to evening shift.

Qualifications

Languages Requirements

• English proficiency is essential. Bilingualism is considered an asset

Education & Designation

• University degree or College Diploma in related area or a combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered

Experience

• Minimum of 7 years of related business experience in industrial or manufacturing environment
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive management experience, preferably in a unionized environment
• Experience analyzing operational performance data, monitoring KPIs, and implementing process improvements

Additional Qualifications

• Knowledge of electroplating processes, process chemistry, precious metals processing, material handling systems, and manufacturing best practices within a regulated industrial environment.
• Knowledge of wastewater treatment systems, environmental management practices, and applicable municipal, provincial, and federal environmental regulations.
• Knowledge of industrial health, safety, and environmental management systems, including hazard identification, risk assessment, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance.
• Knowledge of manufacturing operations, performance management, production planning, Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and structured problem-solving techniques.
• Knowledge of workforce management practices within a unionized manufacturing environment, including collective agreement administration, employee relations, and workforce development.
• Ability to analyze operational, financial, and business data to drive informed decision-making, supported by working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP, manufacturing systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong leadership, team-building, and interpersonal skills to develop and motivate a high-performance team in a safe, inclusive environment
• Highly organized and adaptable, able to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Results-driven, with the ability to analyze KPIs, implement improvements, and drive root cause solutions
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to clearly and concisely convey information, build relationships, and collaborate effectively across diverse teams and stakeholders
