Gastronomous Technologies is looking for a hands-on Junior CNC Machinist to support prototyping and light production machining for our robotic kitchen systems. You'll work in our Oakville facility machining mechanical components — primarily for R&D and prototype builds — while also contributing to broader fabrication work as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes to machine prototype and production parts
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Perform basic CAM programming or work from existing programs (Fusion 360, Mastercam, or similar)
- Deburr, inspect, and verify finished parts against print tolerances
- Support other fabrication tasks — welding, sheet metal, manual machining, or assembly as needed
- Maintain tooling inventory and machine upkeep
Qualifications:
- 3–5 years of CNC machining experience (hands-on school, personal/hobby shop, or professional)
- Comfortable on a mill or lathe (3-axis minimum); multi-axis a plus
- Able to read engineering drawings and basic GD&T
- Experience with at least one other fabrication discipline (welding, sheet metal, general fab, etc.)
- Familiarity with CAM software is an asset
- Self-directed — comfortable working with minimal supervision in a small team environment
Nice to Have:
- Experience machining aluminum and stainless steel
- Background in mechanical assembly or electro-mechanical systems
- Exposure to a product development or prototype environment
