Job Description
Apply all aspects of the nursing process to the care of the surgical day patient in a professional and multi-disciplinary team. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing care to patients in the PACU and Pre-Admission Clinic.
Qualifications
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
- ACLS Certification required at time of hire and ongoing
- Current 3-5 years Surgical Day Care nursing experience required
- Current 3-5 years PACU nursing experience required.
- Critical Care Nursing course and/or PACU course required.
- Coronary Care 1 and 2 preferred
- Experience with administering IV drugs below the drip chambers, central lines, Epidural/ PCA pump, ECG machines, invasive pressure monitoring required.
- Experience with phlebotomy, paracentesis, and other ambulatory care procedures.
- Ability to interpret advanced arrhythmias
- Strong patient assessment skills essential
- Must possess excellent decision making & critical thinking skills
- Flexible, good team player with positive attitude.
- Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
- Caring attitude with patients, families and co-workers.
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record required.
Additional Information
Hours: Monday to Sunday - Various rotating shifts-- Days and Evenings -- 7.5 hour shifts. On call PACU shifts scheduled (hours subject to change based on operational requirements)
Salary: $41.15 per hour - $58.98 per hour
