Video Editor
Maria Killam, Inc.
Video editing will be the largest part of the role, but we don’t want someone who simply waits for editing instructions.
You should be able to recognize a strong hook, find the best moment in raw footage, improve pacing and storytelling, and spot opportunities to turn one piece of content into several.
We’re looking for a talented video editor with strong social-media instincts to work with our Marketing Manager and Maria on Instagram and YouTube.
Keep video files and projects organized and meet production deadlines.
Add captions, B-roll, graphics, music and images where appropriate.
Participate in content planning and bring ideas to the team.
Improve hooks, pacing and storytelling while preserving Maria’s natural voice.
Edit long-form YouTube videos, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts .
Turn longer videos and raw footage into compelling short-form content.
What You'll do:
Repurpose Maria’s extensive library of YouTube, blog and educational content.
- You have strong experience editing both long-form and short-form video and understand hooks, retention, pacing and storytelling.
- You can make expert or talking-head content engaging without overproducing it, work independently from raw footage, take feedback well and contribute creatively rather than waiting for every assignment to be spelled out.
- Experience with founder-led, educational, lifestyle, home or interior-design brands is a plus.
Who we're looking for:
We care much more about the quality of work than which editing software you use
- If you received a 20-minute video of Maria speaking to the camera, how would you decide which moments should become Reels?
- Give us one example of how you improved a piece of content beyond simply editing the footage you were given.
- Look at Maria Killam's Instagram or YouTube and suggest one piece of content you think she should create next. Why?
About Maria

She's trained thousands of design professionals since, guided more than 10,000 virtual colour and design projects, and is the creator of The Killam Colour System® and the Understanding Undertones® Neutral Colour Wheel .
