Front Desk and Gift Shop Manager

Job Responsibility:

Job Summary: We are seeking a friendly and organized Front Desk and Gift Shop Manager to join our team. This full-time position is ideal for someone who enjoys interacting with the public and has a knack for retail management. The successful candidate will be responsible for welcoming visitors, providing excellent customer service, and managing the day-to-day operations of our small gift shop.

Key Responsibilities: Front Desk:

• Greet and welcome visitors with a warm and friendly demeanor.
• Provide information about the garden, events, programs, and memberships.
• Handle phone calls, emails, and in-person interactions efficiently in a professional and courteous manner.

• Process transactions accurately and efficiently, including cash handling and credit card transactions.
• Maintain a clean, organized and inviting reception area.

Gift Shop Management:

• Oversee the daily operations of the gift shop, including opening and closing procedures.
• Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking merchandise.
• Create attractive merchandise displays to enhance sales.
• Process sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system.
• Maintain accurate sales records and perform regular cash reconciliations.
• Develop and implement promotional strategies to boost gift shop sales.

Customer Service:

• Provide excellent customer service to all visitors and customers.
• Address and resolve any customer complaints or issues promptly.
• Assist visitors with special requests or needs.

Administrative Support:

• Assist with administrative tasks as needed, including data entry and record-keeping.
• Support the coordination of events and programs hosted at the garden.
• Collaborate with other staff members to ensure smooth operations.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary education in retail management, business administration, or a related field is a plus.
• Previous experience in customer service, retail management, or front desk operations.
• Strong organizational, time management and multitasking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in using point-of-sale systems and basic computer applications.
• Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Passion for the mission of the nonprofit garden and a desire to contribute to its success.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
