Instructor III – Gymnastics

Parks, Recreation and Community Services is seeking enthusiastic and experienced  Instructor III – Gymnastics to join the  Recreation Division at Gordon Head Recreation Centre. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about gymnastics instruction and enjoy creating engaging, safe, and inclusive learning experiences for children and youth of varying ages and abilities.  The Instructor III provides leadership in the planning, delivery, and overall management of gymnastics programs while fostering a positive and welcoming environment for participants.

Under the general direction of a Recreation Programmer or Program Technician,  the Instructor III is responsible for providing direct instruction and leadership for gymnastics programs. Responsibilities include preparing course outlines and lesson plans, setting up equipment, delivering high-quality instruction, monitoring participant progress and safety, maintaining attendance records, ensuring equipment is safely stored following each class, attending in-service training, and maintaining a safe, organized, and inclusive program environment. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong instructional ability, effective communication skills, sound judgment, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

Requirements include completion of Grade 10, a minimum of three months' experience teaching gymnastics in a recreational or instructional setting, and certification appropriate to the area of instruction in accordance with industry standards. Current Emergency First Aid and CPR-C certification is required, and employment is subject to a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector (PIC-VS) dated within the last six months. Gymnastics coaching certification, experience working with children, and experience working with participants with diverse abilities are considered assets. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. If shortlisted, applicants will be required to provide proof of education and current certifications at the time of interview.
