This position is a CUPE 59 position and will be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Should it not be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, external candidates will be considered.

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Information Management/Technology Coordinator, this entry-level position may provide technical and administrative support across multiple IT functions, including hardware and software support, asset management, help desk, audiovisual, and network systems.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Provides front-line technical support for hardware, software, and general IT issues, escalating to senior staff as required. Communicate with business partners using telephone, email, instant messaging and other channels.
• Prepares, updates, and maintains records of IT assets, including tracking location, age, and replacement status.
• Support technology procurement activities, including equipment ordering, billing, cross-charging, and vendor communication.
• Enter, maintain, and track data in IT service management systems, producing reports and ensuring accuracy.
• Support employee onboarding and offboarding by preparing, assigning, setting up, and collecting IT equipment. Assist with software license administration, including monitoring usage, tracking allocations, and supporting renewal processes.
• Provide basic network support, including troubleshooting connectivity issues and assisting with equipment setup.
• Provide audiovisual support for meetings, events, and presentations, including setup, operation, and troubleshooting of AV systems.
• Coordinate delivery of IT equipment, including shipments and onsite visits.
• Maintain awareness of IT trends, standards, and procedures to support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements

• Successful completion of a one-year post-secondary program in computer technology, information systems, or a related field, plus one relevant IT certification – Duration up to 1 year max (e.g., CompTIA A+, HDI, Microsoft, Cisco). No prior work experience required.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills

• Knowledge of IT hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, including asset tracking practices and licensing processes.
• Demonstrated keyboarding skills with the ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute with accuracy, validated through testing or certification.
• Basic knowledge of networking concepts, including connectivity troubleshooting, cabling, and equipment setup.
• Basic knowledge of audiovisual systems, including setup and operation of projectors, conferencing tools, and presentation equipment.
• Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and customer service standards.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to staff with varying levels of technical knowledge.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
• Ability to prioritize and organize work to meet deadlines and service expectations.
• Demonstrated skill in the operation of computers and common business software, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
• Willingness and ability to learn and apply enterprise IT systems such as service management portals, asset tracking systems, financial tools, enterprise network management tools, and platforms supporting audiovisual and teleconferencing services (e.g., meeting room systems, collaboration platforms, virtual meetings).
• Demonstrated problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to adapt to new tools and technologies.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Weekly Hours: 36.67

Salary Range: $55,739.28 to $61,452.00 CAD per annum (2026 rates)
