Personal Support Worker

St. Joseph's Care Group is expanding care capacity at Hogarth Riverview Manor to better meet the needs of our community. As part of this expansion, our current Willow and Cedar units will transition from their transitional care bed state to long-term care beds by fall 2026. This change will support increased resident capacity and has resulted in the creation of the following new position postings.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join our team as a Personal Support Worker and make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents by providing compassionate, person-centered care. Working closely with Registered Nurses and Practical Nurses, you will support residents’ physical, emotional, social, cultural, and spiritual well-being every day. Be a vital part of our collaborative Interprofessional Team, contributing to personalized care plans that truly respect each resident’s unique needs and preferences all within a supportive long-term care environment.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:

• Current Personal Support Worker certificate from a recognized college program

• Demonstrated experience and interest in working with senior populations, including providing end-of-life care

• Previous experience in a long-term care home preferred

Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as critical thinking and problem-solving abilities relative to the situation and scope of practice
• Demonstrated commitment to people-centered care
• Demonstrated ability to use computer applications including Word, Windows, email, and electronic health records or documentation systems

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team

• Demonstrated regular attendance at work

Assets:

• Certification relevant to practice setting (i.e. Gerontology, Dementia, Palliative Care), including training in Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) and U-First is an asset
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is an asset
• Demonstrated familiarity with the Long-Term Care Homes Act and Regulations is an asset

Conditions of Employment:

• This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)  where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
