Senior Accounts Payable Representative

About the role On-site | Full-time | Mid Level Key Responsibilities:

• Ensuring vendor invoices and payments are processed accurately and in a timely manner;
• Liaising with individuals and departments to ensure all vendor invoices, packing slips and statements are submitted to the A/P department in accordance with established procedures and deadlines;
• Reconciling vendor statements/prepayments and resolving discrepancies;
• Sorting and coding invoices and other related paperwork for payables entry;
• Entering payables into accounting system;
• Handling the creation of new employee cards;
• Preparing cheque runs as scheduled and manual cheques as required;
• Providing back-up, training and support to the Accounts Payable team;
• Assisting in documentation of A/P processes and systems;
• Suggesting improvements to A/P processes and systems;
• Investigating and resolving irregularities or enquiries;
• Monitoring the accounts payable e-mail inbox and responding to vendor and internal staff enquiries;
• Processing month end entries;
• Filing and scanning;
• Observing established safety regulations and complying with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
• Other duties as assigned.

About you:

• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills;
• A high level of diligence and attention to detail;
• Computer literacy using Excel spreadsheets and Word;
• Knowledge of computerized accounting system;
• Strong ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines with multiple priorities;
• Flexible and the ability to assist in other areas of the Finance department;
• Ability to accurately follow instructions;
• A positive, team-player attitude with a strong work ethic;
• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of Accounts Payable experience in a large, multi-currency, multi-branch environment preferred;
• Minimum 3 years of experience with ERP systems;
• Completion of financial accounting courses preferred.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
• Ability to use and view a computer screen for up to 8 hours per day;
• Ability to communicate via telephone and e-mail without assistance;
• Manual dexterity to do repetitive tasks such as data entry.

• An estimated hourly pay of $27.38 CAD at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
