Are you ready to take on a stimulating and impactful challenge? Look no further: VIA HFR is looking for a Project Control Manager who will support the Technical Office of the High Frequency Rail.

As a team member of the HFR Project Management Office (PMO), reporting to the PMO director and working collaboratively with the Workstream Lead to provide project management services, oversight, coordination and reporting including and not limited to, project and workstream schedules, scope of work, cost management, quality assurance, organization and resources, while actively managing project risks.

The Technical Office of the High Frequency Rail Project is an agile organization. The individual will require the skills and personal attributes to support this goal and should be able to work with minimal direction and exercising strong initiative, judgment, and confidentiality.

Activities forming part of the Services shall include, without limitation:

• Works collaboratively with the workstream lead and interfaces with PMO on: PMP, Cost management, Schedules, Reporting, Risk Management, Project organization, Project Governance, Information Management;
• Participate in project activities: business plan development, financial justifications, plans, project timelines and budget;
• Monitor and control activities related to project delivery: track and oversee the work plan (timeline, tasks, budget), progress reports, project log updates (approvals, outstanding items, change requests, decisions, risks, issues, resources, etc.) and support contract administration and invoice processing;
• Take part in project completion activities: archiving report, closure of outstanding issues and management of lessons learned;
• Assess project progress and assist workstream leads in applying mitigation measures and reporting;
• Advise project (or program) managers and members of project teams on the application of management standards and methodologies and the use of templates and tools.

Skills and Knowledge and Competencies :

• Leadership: Superior organizational skills and ability to formally and informally inspire teams and stakeholders to deliver on key objectives and initiatives;
• Communications: Superior interpersonal, communication, presentation, and writing skills, in both official languages;
• Team player: Demonstrated ability to engage and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders and the skill to respond to their needs strategically and tactfully;
• Results Oriented: Demonstrated ability to deliver on the priorities of the organization, improve outcomes and add value in a timely fashion;
• Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite;
• Skilled at advocacy, influence, and persuasion, with the ability to convince others to act on information or recommendations based on compelling logic or common best interests;
• Strong knowledge and understanding of how the government works;
• Self-starter with good organizational skills who can work both independently and as a member of a team;
• Experience and knowledge of budgeting and forecast preparation and trend analysis is an asset;
• Knowledge of government objectives, mandates and administrative and reporting practices related to the High Frequency Rail Project is an asset.

Education and Experience:

• A minimum of 5 years of professional experience project management, or related field.
• A bachelor's degree in engineering, management, or any other relevant fields.
• Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• PMP certification is an asset.
