Eligibility Criteria:

The candidate must meet the criteria below to qualify for roles funded by Canada Summer Jobs.

1. The candidate must be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the beginning of the employment period.

2. The candidate must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada

3. The candidate must have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment

Summary:

The Summer Camp Leader will report to Camp Coordinator. The Leader must ensure the delivery of a safe, fun, physically active and educational program, while making sure the quality operation of the summer camp ensures the design, implementation, program communication and administration are successful.

Duties:

· Establishing rules and regulations and ensuring players are familiar with the fundamentals of ball hockey

· Designing and implementing sporting strategies.

· Maintaining sports equipment.

· Scheduling and presiding over games.

· Working to improve team unity and sportsmanship.

· Ensuring all team members get equal playing time.

· Emphasizing skills development including safety, fair play, and sportsmanship.

· Setting realistic and age-appropriate expectations for team members.

· Ensuring proper sideline behavior from team members and parents.

· Ensuring the safety of the team during practice sessions and games.

· Organizing team-building sessions and activities off the field

· Encouraging players to engage in other recreational sports and to live a healthy life with a balanced diet

Qualifications:

· Must meet the Canada Summer Jobs eligibility criteria.

· Leadership experience or skills, particularly with children aged 12-17 years

· Passion for hockey and in-depth knowledge of the game

· Proven work experience as a youth sports coach.

· First Aid and CPR certified.

· Youth teaching experience is preferred.

· Passion for youth development.

· In-depth knowledge of sporting strategies.

· Good communication and interpersonal skills.

· Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

· Patient and understanding.
