Java Integration Developer

Position Description
CGI is seeking an experienced Java Integration Developer to join our growing team. In this role, you will design, develop, and support enterprise integration solutions that connect business-critical applications across modern cloud environments. Working closely with solution architects, developers, business stakeholders, and infrastructure teams, you will build secure, scalable Java-based integration services while contributing to API development, cloud modernization, and digital transformation initiatives.

This opportunity is ideal for a developer with strong Java backend development experience, enterprise integration expertise, and a passion for building secure, high-performance solutions.
This is a full-time permanent opportunity based in one of CGI's Atlantic Canada offices, including Halifax, NS; Moncton or Fredericton, NB; St. John's, NL; or Stratford, PEI. Candidates must be currently located in Atlantic Canada or willing to relocate. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring three days per week onsite.

Your future duties and responsibilities
• Design, develop, and support enterprise integration solutions using Java.
• Develop secure, scalable backend services and REST APIs.
• Build and maintain integrations between enterprise business applications and cloud platforms.
• Collaborate with architects, developers, and business teams to deliver reliable integration solutions.
• Implement authentication and API security using industry-standard practices.
• Develop cloud-native integration solutions using AWS services.
• Troubleshoot integration issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement improvements.
• Participate in testing, deployments, documentation, and production support activities.
• Contribute to CI/CD automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support modern integration architecture and enterprise digital transformation projects.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of experience developing enterprise applications using Java.
• Strong experience developing REST APIs and backend services.
• Experience designing and supporting enterprise application integrations.
• Experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native application development.
• Strong understanding of authentication and security technologies, including OAuth, OpenID Connect, JWT, or similar standards.
• Experience integrating enterprise business systems such as CRM, ECM, customer data platforms, financial systems, or similar applications.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Assets
The following qualifications would be considered assets:
• Experience with Kafka or other event-driven messaging platforms.
• Experience with AI integrations, agentic workflows, Model Context Protocol (MCP), or Generative AI technologies.
• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, or automation tools.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications.
• Experience working within banking, financial services, or other regulated industries.

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $75,000–$115,000 CAD. This role is a future vacancy.
