Senior Clinical Pharmacist

The Role

We’re excited to launch a brand-new Biologics Pharmacist role – the first of its kind in NHSGGC! This is a unique opportunity to shape the service from day one and make a tangible difference to patient care and medicines optimisation. You will provide expert clinical support across Rheumatology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, and other specialist areas using biologic therapies, while supporting the Pharmacy Distribution Centre (PDC) and home‑care teams with clinical queries, shortages, and safe, cost‑effective biosimilar switching.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

• Permanent, Full‑time
• Base location – Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
• Shift pattern – Monday to Friday, core hours, including participation in weekend and public holiday work, and on‑call rota

Key Responsibilities

• Provide specialist clinical advice for all biologics across multiple specialisms.
• Support PDC and home‑care teams with shortages and complex queries.
• Lead safe, cost‑effective biosimilar switching programmes.
• Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes and optimise medicine use.

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required

• Master’s Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent and registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
• Completed or currently undertaking NES Foundation Level Training (or equivalent).
• Prescribing qualification achieved or in progress.
• Knowledge of biologics or complex therapies desirable.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Enthusiasm for service improvement and shaping a brand‑new role.
