General Manager - Nickel Processing
Location: Jakarta, Indonesia | Expat Assignment | Relocation Provided
Verrus are supporting a rapidly growing natural resources investment and operating group in the search for a senior processing leader to oversee a portfolio of nickel processing assets from an owner’s representative perspective.
The company holds majority interests across multiple nickel processing operations, including RKEF smelters and HPAL assets, and is seeking to strengthen its internal technical and operational oversight capability as the business continues to expand.
This is a high-visibility leadership role sitting close to senior management and board stakeholders, with long-term progression potential into the executive leadership team.
The successful candidate will act as the owner’s technical and operational representative across the portfolio, providing independent oversight, performance monitoring, governance support, and strategic operational input across partner-operated assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent the asset owner in technical and operational engagement with operating partners
- Monitor operational, metallurgical, maintenance, HSSE, and cost performance across multiple processing assets
- Review production performance, recovery, reliability, process stability, and operational KPIs
- Provide independent technical challenge and operational assessment to senior leadership and board stakeholders
- Prepare executive-level operational dashboards, reports, and performance summaries
- Identify operational risks, performance gaps, value leakage, and improvement opportunities
- Conduct regular site visits and operational reviews across processing operations
- Support long-term operational capability development and strategic asset oversight
Candidate Profile
- Extensive leadership experience within nickel processing, smelting, refining, HPAL, RKEF, hydrometallurgy, pyrometallurgy, or related extractive metallurgy operations
- Strong understanding of operational governance, owner/operator structures, and board-level reporting
- Ability to engage credibly with senior operational, technical, and executive stakeholders
- Experience across operational performance monitoring, technical review, and process improvement initiatives
- Proven experience within publicly listed or large multinational resource companies
- International and expatriate leadership experience strongly preferred
- Comfortable operating in a high-accountability, multicultural environment
