Corporate Business Analyst
Atlantic Aqua Farms is a successful and growing mussel and oyster aquaculture business primarily based in Prince Edward Island, Canada. Committed to customer service and quality products for 35 years, Atlantic Aqua Farms is North America's number one grower and processor of the widely recognized, high quality Prince Edward Island Mussels, under the brand name Canadian Cove. The company also farms some of the finest quality Prince Edward Island Oysters, with such brands as Barstool Cocktails, Sweet Island Kiss, Naked Islanders, and Chappell Creek. Atlantic Aqua Farms continues to expand farming and processing operations with its ongoing acquisition activities in Canada and the USA.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Business Performance and Transformation, the Corporate Business Analyst will be a key member of the Atlantic Aqua Farms team. This position is responsible for supporting corporate initiatives that require data, analysis and insight and will work across various departments to obtain the information and business knowledge requirements. While some focus areas will remain consistent (e.g. supporting the development, visualization, and timely reporting of KPIs to the leadership team), this position will have a considerable amount of ad-hoc analysis, and a variety of dynamic responsibilities. The ideal candidate will be exceptionally strong in developing excel-based modeling and in conducting data analysis, will have participated in (and understand the rationale behind) a Formal Management System that uses KPIs to drive improvement, will have a general knowledge of typical core business processes (HR, Finance, Operations, Sales), will have a desire to learn and grow as a digital analytics professional (e.g. become a PowerBI expert among other things), and will have a willingness to visit our various operations and engage with the various business leaders to fully understand the processes being analyzed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Senior Director of Business Performance to support the development of a full suite of business KPIs to monitor all key business metrics.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather financial and operational information and ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Participate in the annual budget cycle through improving budget accuracy and working to improve the process itself.
- Develop financial management reports and controls to track and monitor budget performance.
- Perform in-depth analysis of data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations to improve financial and operational performance.
- Conduct pricing and profitability analysis as required to advance our sales and marketing agenda.
- Support the development of analysis and materials to present during quarterly board meetings.
- Support the maintenance of, and reporting on, the short-term incentive program for leaders (STIP).
- Work with the Executive Team to conduct analysis related to M&A activity, growth projections, pricing, cost-benefit analysis.
- Assist in special projects and ad hoc financial analysis as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Engineering.
- Strong MS Excel skills and significant experience building models and visualizations.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Strong continuous improvement background.
- Proficiency in data analytics software and with technology integration.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task and manage changing priorities.
- Exhibit a high energy level and positive attitude.
Compensation: $60,000 - $75,000
