Supply Chain Manager
Location: Calgary, Alberta
We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Manager to lead procurement and supply chain operations across a portfolio of large-scale, technically complex projects. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for driving sourcing strategies, supplier performance, commercial outcomes, and operational excellence while leading a high-performing team.
The successful candidate will work closely with project, operations, engineering, finance, and executive leadership teams to ensure the seamless delivery of equipment, materials, and subcontracted services that are critical to project success.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop a growing Supply Chain team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance on procurement strategy, supplier management, commercial negotiations, and supply chain best practices.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to support effective decision-making and project execution.
- Establish performance expectations and development plans that promote individual and team success.
Strategic Sourcing & Procurement
- Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with project requirements, business objectives, and market conditions.
- Oversee sourcing, purchasing, subcontracting, supplier management, and materials planning activities.
- Support both project planning and execution through supplier engagement, procurement planning, contract administration, and risk mitigation.
- Maintain strong relationships with key manufacturers, suppliers, and industry partners to ensure market intelligence remains current.
- Lead procurement planning for critical and long-lead equipment, materials, and services.
- Monitor market trends, supplier capacity, pricing fluctuations, and supply chain risks to support proactive decision-making.
Commercial & Supplier Management
- Lead negotiations for major supplier and subcontract agreements.
- Establish and monitor supplier performance metrics focused on quality, delivery, responsiveness, and commercial value.
- Manage commercial risk while ensuring procurement activities support project schedules and budget objectives.
- Collaborate with corporate procurement and vendor management teams to maximize strategic sourcing opportunities and preferred supplier agreements.
Process Improvement & Technology
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain functions.
- Develop and maintain reporting tools, dashboards, and performance metrics that provide meaningful business insights.
- Promote the use of digital tools, automation, and data analytics to improve efficiency and decision-making.
- Support the implementation of scalable procurement processes that can support organizational growth.
Qualifications
Experience
- 15+ years of progressive experience in supply chain management, procurement, sourcing, contracts, or commercial management.
- Demonstrated success supporting large-scale industrial, construction, infrastructure, manufacturing, energy, or capital project environments.
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing high-performing teams.
Technical & Commercial Expertise
- Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing, contract management, supplier performance management, and procurement governance.
- Experience managing large-value procurement programs involving complex equipment, materials, and subcontracted services.
- Understanding of schedule-driven project environments and the importance of supply continuity, vendor reliability, and commercial risk management.
Leadership & Communication
- Strong negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with operational teams, project leadership, executive stakeholders, and external suppliers.
- Proven ability to influence decisions and drive alignment across multiple business functions.
Technology & Analytics
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint, Word, and related business applications.
- Experience working with ERP, procurement, supplier management, and reporting platforms.
- Comfortable utilizing modern analytics, automation, and AI-enabled tools to improve forecasting, reporting, workflow efficiency, and decision support.
Education
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business, Commerce, Engineering, Construction Management, Economics, or a related field.
- SCMP, CPSM, PMP, or similar professional designation is considered an asset.
