About the role

A well-established seafood processing and logistics operation in British Columbia’s wild seafood industry is seeking a hands-on Assistant Operations Manager to support the Senior Vice President of Operations with the day-to-day coordination of logistics, fleet activities, and plant operations.

This role may suit someone with current or previous experience working aboard commercial fishing vessels—such as a fisher, deckhand, or other vessel crew member—who is ready to transition to shore-based operations. You will work closely with the Senior Vice President of Operations and senior leadership to coordinate activities across fishing vessels, logistics, and plant operations.

This is an active, hands-on role rather than a desk-only position. Responsibilities will include working in the warehouse and on the dock, coordinating freight, resolving time-sensitive operational issues, and building effective relationships with fishers and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Direct, hands-on experience aboard commercial fishing vessels, such as experience as a fisher, deckhand, or other vessel crew member
• Experience in logistics, operations, or supply chain
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Initiative, accountability, and self-motivation
• Ability to work independently, plan ahead, and anticipate operational issues
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Team-oriented, hands-on approach
• Flexibility and adaptability when priorities change
• Forklift experience or willingness to obtain certification
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
