Experienced & Creative Café Cook

TIPO Foods is looking for an experienced, creative, and dependable Café Cook/Chef to join our team. We are looking for someone with a minimum of 2–3 years of professional kitchen experience and strong professional references.

The ideal candidate is not only a strong cook but also a confident leader who can guide kitchen staff, organize daily production, maintain consistency and quality, and keep the kitchen running efficiently during busy service.

We are especially interested in someone who has experience working in a similar café, deli, bakery-café, or fast-paced fresh-food environment and understands sandwiches, salads, bowls, sauces, breakfast items, and grab-and-go food.

Responsibilities

● Lead and support kitchen staff during daily preparation and service

● Organize prep and production to ensure the kitchen is ready for busy periods

● Prepare food consistently according to recipes, portions, and presentation standards

● Help develop new sandwiches, bowls, salads, sauces, breakfast items, and seasonal specials

● Bring creativity and new ideas to the menu while keeping food cost and practicality in mind

● Have a good understanding of nutrition and different dietary requirements, including vegetarian, vegan, gluten-conscious, high-protein, and other dietary preferences

● Maintain excellent food quality, freshness, presentation, and portion control

● Monitor inventory and communicate ordering and prep needs

● Minimize waste and use ingredients efficiently

● Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and follow food-safety standards

● Train and guide other kitchen team members

● Work independently and take ownership of the kitchen when needed

Qualifications

● Minimum 2–3 years of professional kitchen experience — required

● Previous experience in a café, deli, sandwich shop, bakery-café, or similar environment strongly preferred

● Professional references are required

● Strong leadership and communication skills

● Creative approach to food and menu development

● Strong knowledge of food preparation, food safety, portioning, and kitchen organization

● Understanding of current food trends, nutrition, and dietary preferences

● Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

● Reliable, organized, punctual, and able to take initiative

● Comfortable leading and working alongside a small team

● FoodSafe certification preferred
