We are currently seeking a Protection and Control Engineer to work on a variety of challenging and innovative projects in power generation, substations, transmission lines, carbon capture, and hydrocarbon processing projects.

As a member of our engineering team your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Involvement in project engineering phases for small to large sized projects; pre-FEED, FEED, Detailed Design and Commissioning & Start Up.
• Develop, review, and authenticate Protection and Control designs for substations, transmission systems and other energy industry facilities.
• Execute and advise in the development of HV electrical design, including relay settings, control logic, and interface wiring.
• Interface and provide support to other disciplines to ensure successful project completion.
• Design and review single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, panel layouts, schematics, communication architecture and SCADA drawings.
• Complete system studies, including fault current analysis, protection coordination, load flow, and arc flash analysis using ETAP software.
• Provide mentoring and guidance to engineering and designers in the production of engineering drawings and deliverables.
• Interface with utility system operators (e.g. AESO, SaskPower) for design and compliance.
• Utilize industry knowledge, best practices, codes, standards, and regulations in the development of engineering deliverables.
• Develop and record design decisions, calculations, power system reports and other design documents.
• Specify, evaluate, and purchase of Protection and Control equipment required for a complete design.
• Provide great value to our customers through technically strong, efficient, and timely work.
• Attend and provide input in client and stakeholder meetings.
• Support the growth of the Electrical Department through standards and templates review and development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology.
• P.Eng. or P.L.(Eng.) in good standing with a Canadian engineering regulator, e.g., APEGA, EGBC, APEGS, or EGMB.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with Protection and Control projects in Canada including experience as the project Lead.
• At least 1 year of experience leading junior and intermediate engineers, technologists, and designers.
• Proficiency with Electrical Power System Analysis Software, such as ETAP.
• Experience interfacing and designing with utility system operators (e.g. AESO, SaskPower) and utility system providers.
• Prior experience in power generation, oil and gas or process facilities is considered an asset.
• An understanding of project change management, project procurement systems and procedures.
• Strong analytical and engineering problem solving skills.
• Strong knowledge of industry regulations and requirements.
• Excellent organizational, communication (written and verbal), and technical skills.
• Ability to work directly with client office and field personnel in a flexible, fast-paced environment.
• Occasional travel to facilities may be required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Pay is commensurate with experience.
