ICON Creative Studio, Canada’s largest independently owned animation studio, is seeking a motivated Junior Rigging Artist to join our team in historic Gastown, Vancouver. We are the creative force behind top-tier feature and episodic CG content for major platforms, including Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, Amazon, Peacock, and Paramount+.
In this role, you will be a vital part of our technical art department, translating static models into performant, animation-ready assets. You will work closely with our Rigging Lead to create high-quality rigs for characters, vehicles, props, and environments. Role Overview – Junior Rigging Artist:
You will create high-quality rigs for props, sets, vehicles, and characters using in-house tools. Reporting to the Rigging Lead , you will actively collaborate with the rigging team and other departments, continuously learning while contributing to a positive and efficient production environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop rigs for props, sets, vehicles, and characters according to production requirements
- Use in-house rigging software efficiently
- Follow direction from the Rigging Lead, ensuring technical and artistic standards
- Collaborate with fellow rigging artists and departments
- Accept and implement feedback to improve workflow and output
- Identify challenges and propose rigging solutions
- Stay updated on industry trends and new techniques
Qualifications:
✅ Strong knowledge of Maya
✅ Basic anatomy knowledge
✅ Strong communication skills
✅ Ability to deliver tasks under deadlines
Pluses: Python, version control (GIT), cloth, hair, and muscle rigging experience
