Primary Responsibilities & AttitudeWe’re looking for a Senior Controller, Finance, to join our growing company, Odyssey Trust! Our ideal candidate is someone who has strong technical skills, experience managing a team and strong leadership skills. The candidate will be known for their work ethic and “can do” attitude and considers themselves to be a team player. On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for supporting our VP Finance and Executive and working alongside the Finance Team. You will be responsible for the oversight of all accounting, auditing and finance compliance functions for the organization, leading the accounting team and driving technology and process transformation across the finance function.Key AccountabilitiesLead process transformation initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline and automate accounting workflows through the strategic use of technologyOversee all accounting and auditing for the organization, including financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing & revenue recognition, finance related compliance and technical accounting judgementsOversight of internal controls, the annual external audit, and regulatory filings (OSFI, Provincial, and State regulators)Review month-end/quarter-end/year-end financial statements and present findings at monthly financial review meetings with the VP FinanceOversee the annual budget process, business unit reporting, variance analysis and commentary, and KPI dashboardsPrepare and oversee all Board and Management reporting materials and attend regular Management MeetingsOwn ERP & Finance systems, including evaluating and implementing technology solutions that improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability across the finance functionManaging client interest statement preparation and distributionManagement of the accounting team including hiring and development, leading a team of 7Other ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as requiredSkills And ExperienceCPA designation required7+ years’ experience in senior accounting roles, managing a teamStrong leadership and communication skills, with a great attitude and work ethicExceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and multi-task within tight deadlinesSolutions-based attitude, answering inquiries with “yes, I can do that for you” or “let me find a way to make this happen”Experience with NetSuite is an assetExperience with financial systems implementation or process automation and familiarity with business intelligence or financial reporting tools is an assetStrong proficiency with Office 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and other desktop applicationsWhat We OfferPaid Time Off: Vacation, Flex Days, Bonus Day and Birthday Day offBenefits: Extended Health, Dental, Life Insurance, AD&D, Critical Illness, Long Term Disability, Employee Assistance Program, $500 Health Care Spending/Lifestyle Spending Account, RRSP/TFSA Match.We thank all candidates for their interest; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
