What is the opportunity?
RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM) is the asset management division of Royal Bank of Canada. RBC GAM provides global investment management services and solutions to individual, high‑net‑worth, and institutional investors through mutual funds, exchange‑traded funds, hedge funds, pooled funds, separate accounts and specialty investment strategies.
What will you do?
- Support the GAM business in producing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results packages for senior management, highlighting major trends and drivers that impact financial performance.
- Provide guidance to the GAM US business on day‑to‑day finance operational processes (AP, AR, general ledger management).
- Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile financial views (legal entity vs. management view), and provide related supporting schedules.
- Work with the Financial Controls team to ensure effective control, governance, and oversight of month‑end close, and resolve accounting/reporting issues with business lines and management.
- Prepare the monthly Flash and financial results package for the GAM leadership team, providing insightful commentary on performance against plan/forecast for revenue, Net Investment Earnings, FTE, and AUM.
- Assist with the preparation of the quarterly internal Board of Directors financial package for P&L and Balance Sheet under US GAAP.
- Play an active role in planning/forecast and the 5‑year financial outlook, focusing on financial transparency.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual schedules and working files as requested by other Finance and Operations teams.
- Participate in automation projects to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
- Complete other ad‑hoc analysis and tasks as required.
What do you need to succeed?
- CPA with 3+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance within a large organization.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and logical thinking skills with attention to detail for consistent and accurate output.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work across functions and businesses.
- Comfortable dealing with incomplete information, uncertainty, and change.
- Nice to have: Knowledge of RBC financial systems (EPM, Cognos TM1 Perspective, PeopleSoft, SAP) and finance operational processes.
- Experience in the financial services industry (asset or wealth management).
- Familiarity with US GAAP and other US regulatory reporting requirements.
