General Description
The E1 – Engineer in Training performs supervised engineering tasks using standard procedures and techniques to support projects and/or operations at BC Hydro safely, with quality, within budget, and on time.

Responsibilities
Work Assignment Overview
Support the Transmission Sustainment Planning Specialist Engineer in meeting the deliverables for FAC-008 and FERC 881:

Respond to project-related facility rating requests (review documentation available documentation, request additional documents if needed, create facility rating to project team)
Annual review of facility ratings:

correspond with 20-30 external entities to obtain latest ratings for jointly-owned lines and update accordingly, review existing ratings for only lines and update accordingly
Update facility ratings with new data as new reports are written (as part of the FAC-008 sustainment program)
Support TDSO and Transmission Planning when information is needed on existing ratings
Support writing of FAC-008 RSAW and audit preparation
Support data requests during audits
Support updating standards related to ratings and the methodology
Assist in asset data quality, entry and corrections.
• Entry level to one (1) year of in a relevant engineering field or equivalent.

Qualifications
Must haves:

Electrical engineering or related discipline
Ability to review and update facility rating memos.
Experience or aptitude for maintaining and updating technical documentation.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Ability to learn complex processes through on-the-job training.
Interest in or exposure to power systems, transmission lines, or utility engineering.
Strong written communication skills for technical documentation.

Nice to haves

Programming knowledge
Previous co-op, internship, or project experience in the utility or energy sector.
Understanding of regulatory or compliance-related engineering documentation.
